About Open Heart SVG & Design

When I think about it, the seed for Open Heart SVG was planted years ago when I launched the Etsy shop, Heart of Still. Although now closed, that shop was very meaningful to me.

Through lots of tears and sweat, I had taught myself how to screen print, and I created designs using Microsoft Word, printed them with my trusty HP home office printer, and then burned the designs into silk screens. I had not even heard of Adobe Illustrator until I needed one-on-one training on the timing aspect of burning my designs into the silk screen and the designer helping me asked if I’d used Adobe Illustrator to create my designs. But by that time, I had figured out how to make Microsoft Word work for me, so I continued to use it.

I screen printed my designs onto t-shirt blanks, tote bags, and tea towels. Most of the designs were based on Christian scripture, others were inspirational or otherwise symbolic. (I found some old images and included them in the slider above.)

That was in 2013, and I regrettably closed the shop in 2014 due to various reasons. But the desire to create faith-inspired designs that help spread the word of God and ones that can aid in opening up a conversation about Christ, or simply to act as a reminder of the faith walk, never faded.

So in 2019, instead of opening up a shop that sells tangible products, I created a digital shop with the same heart-focus and that is how Open Heart SVG was born.

More often than not, my designs stem from my quiet time with God. The scriptures that stand out during my Bible study or the verses that have simply helped me to keep my eyes on God instead of surrounding circumstances, are what I create and post in the shop.

The goal of this shop is in sync with Heart of Still – to create faith-based designs that help share the Word of God, spark conversations about Christ, and that helps keep believers grounded in the truth of God’s word. In the Open Heart SVG online shop, you will find SVG cutting files and more digital resources for DIY-ers, hobbyists and small business owners.

In addition to religious files, you will find inspirational quotes and positive phrases, perfect for personal and professional design projects that help remind us to live with our hearts open and full of gratitude.

Also similar to Heart of Still, I taught myself how to use Adobe Illustrator by watching tutorials and practicing daily. Now I use that software to create SVG files. Three new designs are added to the shop on most weekends, and if you join the mailing list, I will send you an SVG that is free for personal use.

Here is the signup link if you are interested.

I have also begun sharing scriptures and general design posts on the Open Heart SVG blog feel free to visit and share those posts with others.

Thanks again for stopping by and supporting this shop!

If you have any questions, I am open to hearing from you. You can contact me here on the website, or through Etsy convo.

Warmly,

Annette Brown
